Full Description

This National Standard of Canada describes a product specification in compliance to ISO 19131:2007 --Geographic information --Data product specification for the provision of fundamental geographic information tothe public through the GeoBase initiative of the CCOG. This product specification describes the CanadianGeographical Names (CGN) Level 1 data product that provides the currently approved geographical names inCanada, but not the previously approved names1 which are available elsewhere. The CGNS Level 1 alsoprovides the core attributes of the Canadian Geographical Names Data Base (CGNDB). The CGNDB is theofficial set of all geographic names ever approved by the Geographical Names Board of Canada2. Hence theCGN Level 1 dataset is a subset of the CGNDB.
