These guidelines provide a uniform basis for labelling and laboratory evaluation of the performance (effectiveness and durability) of residential weather strip products. The products are intended for use on doors, windows and similar features in residences to reduce air leakage and to improve the energy efficiency.

For more detailed information on intended uses, see par. 8.1.

These guidelines do not include criteria for evaluation of the tested performance. The acceptance criteria must be established prior to testing, taking into account the type of product and it's designated application(s).

The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this standard has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any existing applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use.
