This standard applies to coating systems suitable for the painting of marine floating navigational aids, (buoys), for the complete system above the waterline and as a first coat and intermediate coat below the waterline to provide a minimum of five year service in seacoast and heavy industrial environment.

The coating systems are intended for the protection of buoys and other substrates exposed to fresh or sea water immersion, tidal, splash zones and other severe marine environments.

The coating systems are mainly intended for use as protective systems on carbon steel substrate. For application on other substrates, consult the manufacturer.

The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous.
