Full Description

This standard applies to a high build, two component epoxy coating (Unreacted volatile polyamine curing agents having a boiling point lower than 300C are not permitted in coatings complying with this standard.) that is self-priming and low-temperature curing for the protection of clean steel or concrete surfaces exposed to severely corrosive conditions.

This coating is intended for use as a protective coating on interior and exterior substrates exposed to fresh or sea water immersion, tidal and splash zones, high humidity, condensation, soil burial, brine, alkalies, chemical fumes and chemical splashings by moderately strong sulfuric and muriatic acids. Although this coating is suitable for exterior use, chalking will occur upon weathering. Durability can be improved by applying other finishes suitable for the intended end use. This coating is most suited to application by airless spray. Small areas may be coated with a brush or roller.

This coating is mainly intended for use on steel surfaces and suitably treated galvanized steel and aluminum. However, it may also be used on wood, masonry and concrete surfaces. Primers are not required in normal usage, but if conditions dictate, the manufacturer's advice regarding a suitable primer shall be obtained.

The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this standard has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use.
