The purpose of this standard shall be to provideminimum requirements for respiratory protectiveescape devices that provide limited protectionfor 15 minutes for adult civilian escape from thebyproducts of fire, including particulate matter,carbon monoxide, other toxic gases, and theeffects of radiant heat.
