This technical memorandum addresses visibilityrelatedspectral effects of lighting at mesopic lightlevels. There is a great deal of interest in the impactof light sources with differing spectral power distributionsin terms of visibility at the relatively low light levelsused for much outdoor and roadway lighting. Thepurpose of this document is to provide the readerwith a summary of the research in this area, as wellas to the potential approaches and caveats involvedin incorporating this information into lighting practice.
