Vendor Note: This standard concerns itself with the measurements and evaluation of vibration severity of large rotating machinery in situ and isthe U.S. counterpart of ISO 3945-1977. This standard, which is in complete technical agreement with ISO 3945-1977, is notapplicable to reciprocating machinery. The values of vibration severity recommended as limits in this standard are intended toserve as standard values for machines of similar type, when measured in accordance with the procedures described herein. Therecommended vibration limits may be used for acceptance standards or for monitoring the satisfactory performance of themachine during service operations.
