1. Purpose and Scope

1.1 This test method covers the measurementof the degree of cleanness ofpile floor coverings, in the range fromclean to a middle degree of soiling. It canbe used to measure the accumulation ofsoil, or the removal of soil by a cleaningprocedure. It can be used with pile floorcoverings of any color, pattern, structureor fiber content.

1.2 This test method does not evaluatestructural appearance changes (see 14.1).
