AASHTO M 286-18 covers the general requirements for the smooth-tread standard tire for pavementtesting. The tire covered by this specification is intended for evaluation of tire-pavement friction.

The terminology in this specification is consistent with ASTM E 867.

Except for terminology, figures, and the use of SI units, this specification agrees with ASTM E524-08(2015).
