The authors studied the oxidants sodium hypochlorite (as a baseline for comparison to the other oxidants), chloramine, chlorine dioxide, hydrogen peroxide plus iron, ammonia, and potassium permanganate to determine the potential for the oxidants to cause: 1) zebra mussel settling inactivation, and 2) zebra mussel veliger mortality. The experiments utilized the flow-through bioboxes and static dose/response studies with both veligers and adults.
