Full Description

Large domestic meters need to offer a very wide range and be reliable, holding their accuracy even after years of service with no maintenance. According to this author, turbines do not possess the necessary range, compound meters are unreliable, so single jet meters are the superior option. The single jet water meter is a variant of the turbine meter. The difference is that the conventional turbine operates like a boat's propeller with the water traveling along the turbine's rotational axis. The single jet operates more like a paddlewheel. This paper explains the operation and advantages of the single jet turbine meter.
