Full Description

Compagnie Generale des Eaux operates three large drinking water treatment plants in the Paris suburb, with a combined capacity of 1,800,000 m3/d. A project to double the capacity of the smallest of these plants at Mery-sur-Oise has lead the company to investigate innovative treatment methods. Nanofiltration was chosen. After pilot studies a prototype was built and came on line; since February 1993 nanofiltered water has been distributed to a small community of 6,000 called Auvers-sur-Oise. In this case study, both the Mery-sur-Oise conventional plant and the nanofiltration prototype will be described and the experimental programme on the Auvers-sur-Oise network will be briefly discussed.
