Full Description

This study evaluated the T10/T ratio for a water plant clearwell, one of the key factors for determining compliance with the Surface Water Treatment Rule. The T10/T ratio is evaluated using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). In this method of analysis, the three dimensional time-averaged Navier-Stokes fluid flow equations with a k-epsilon turbulence model are discretized and solved over a finite difference grid using a computer. From the calculated velocity field, the paths and residence times of various water particles are computed. After that, the particle residence time distribution is determined, and the T10/T ratio is evaluated.
