Full Description

Water quality modeling played an important role in designing a new tank for a water distribution system. Using water quality criteria to compare alternatives led to a design not previously apparent from hydraulic modeling. Some alternatives that worked well hydraulically created water quality problems. The proposed design offers the best water quality in the short term and the most flexibility in the long term. Modeling water quality identified an alternative that solves hydraulic problems and improves water quality, rather than making it worse.
